Saturday 31st August 2013

Rob and I had to work today providing IT support for the College enrolment. We brought the girls with us and it made the day brilliant. After fixing a few printer problems we all retreated to a computer suite where we logged on and played Friv; watched movie trailers; Minion videos; Yogscasts; and One Direction clips. the girls also played at being teachers using the whiteboard to present a class. We all had loads of fun.

Afterwards we went to the park for a while as it was sunny and the girls fancied a play in the sand pit and on the zip wire. Back home we sat around, chatted and ate tea until we decided to put the ps2 on and play a bit of Tekken 2 - old school. Great day.

Last night Eve mentioned that her favourite Laurel and Hardy film was Laughing Gravy, so Rob made sure we got it for her to watch over the weekend, whilst I found a great book called Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The short stories are for kids and end with an instruction to shout or jump at someone to scare them. It is ACE and I can't wait to try it out with the girls. We collected the girls from Mossley around 4.30pm as usual. Everyone was tired, Rob had, had the most stressful week at work and Eve was poorly so we were all happy to have an early night after a lovely family meal and chats around the dinner table. Only Jeanne stayed up beyond 8pm playing Simms which worked out for everyone. Oh and we revealed the upcoming treat of taking the girls to the Southport air show, excitement all round! Had a lovely chat with Marjorie on the phone, she's buying shoes for Jeanne for all the right reasons and it's because of circumstances beyond anyone's control that Marj felt the need to explain why. She didn't need to.

Big excitement tonight was the new graphics card for the PC. We've been without an X-Box for a week now and withdrawal is kicking for the girls so Rob dutifully souped up the PC to become a "mean gaming machine". Jeanne was well excited and is happy waiting for a new X-Box for her Birthday next month. The girls spent half the evening playing "sleeping dragons" in the back room. A game where one of them pretends to be asleep whilst the other captures - the sock in this instance - and makes it out of the room before being waking up the dragon. They took turns on the playing games on the PC and in between we watched Laurel and Hardy shorts. Well chilled.
